Former WWE Superstar, Ashley Massaro passed away this morning. The circumstances surrounding her death are currently unclear. According to The Blast, officials are investigating the situation, but would not say more at this time.
Apparently, the local police department doesn’t believe there was foul play and the death was classified as “non-criminal.” Sources told The Blast “a ‘rescue call’ came in at 5:23 AM to her home in Smithtown and she was transported to a local hospital, where she passed away.”
Ashley Massaro famously wrestled for WWE from 2005 to 2008. The former swimsuit model was the winner of the 2005 Diva Search, and a contestant on Survivor: China in 2007. Initially, she feuded with Vince’s Devil and Mickie James. Later, she acted as a valet for the WWE Tag Team Champions, Paul London and Brian Kendrick.
She requested her release from the company in 2008 to make time to attend to her sick daughter. Alexis, her only child, will be 19 years old in July.
Back in March, the 39-year-old Long Island native announced she working to make a return to wrestling. Massaro revealed via Twitter that she was training with New York Wrestling Connection (NYWC).
She never announced what capacity she planned to return in, but fans were excited to see what was next for her. Up until recently, she still made time to respond to fan mail. This is truly a tragic loss for her fans and loved ones.
We here at Bell to Belles would like to extend our deepest condolences to Ashley Massaro’s friends and family.
