For fans who opted not to buy AEW’s PPV debut, Double or Nothing, they were in for a treat tonight its “The Buy In” pre-show. The pre-show aired live on YouTube for free. Following the Casino Battle Royale and the bout between Sammy Guevara and Kip Sabian, a video package aired to hype up the latest addition to the AEW roster: Sadie Gibbs.
Some readers may recall that back in March, it was reported by The Wrestling Observer that Sadie Gibbs had signed a contract with All Elite Wrestling. However, neither Gibbs nor the promotion themselves were quick to confirm the news themselves. This left a big question mark in the air regarding the status of a partnership between these two parties. However, now after Double or Nothing, that question mark has become an exclamation point worth getting excited about.
For those who missed The Buy In earlier tonight and would like to see Gibbs’s promo package, check out the original livestream below and skip to around the 28:00 mark.
For those unaware of Gibbs and her work, she is still relatively new to the wrestling scene. Gibbs has only been competing since 2017. In just over two years, she has taken up the sport fast and managed to impress in promotions like Stardom and British Empire Wrestling.
Now, Gibbs brings her gymnastic background to the ever growing women’s roster of AEW. Which, if you are watching the show live right now, you know that the very latest addition to the roster has been Awesome Kong, joining the women’s triple threat originally scheduled between Britt Baker, Nyla Rose and Kylie Rae. Imagine what a contest between two powerhouse like Gibbs and Kong would look like …
For now, the prospect of Sadie Gibbs in AEW alone is a prospect worth getting excited about.
