Independent wrestler Lindsay Snow, known as “The American Kaiju”, has been tearing up the Florida indy circuit since her in-ring debut in 2016.
Besides wrestling all over Florida, her resume also includes Shine, RISE and Full Throttle Pro, to name a few. Snow, who has a background as a Brazilian jiu-jitsu competitor, has been a fan of professional wrestling her entire life.
Lauren Founds from Bell to Belles recently spoke to Snow, and discussed her transition into professional wrestling and who her heroes were growing up.
“I started training Brazilian jiu jitsu and knew I wanted to bring it to a bigger stage, because usually the people who watch BJJ are practitioners. I had always been a fan of pro wrestling, and it was something I always wanted to do. So I started competing in tournaments pretty much a month after I started training.
I wanted to be the best at what I did and I needed to show my skills on a platform that was well-respected. I then met Jay Lethal through mutual friends and he invited me to come train with him at his school and the rest is history.”
Decked-out head-to-toe in tattoos, with her wresting style described as “hard hitting and aggressive”, Snow stands out from the majority of women wrestlers in the business. Growing up as a child in Florida, Lindsay looked up to Japanese mixed martial artist and pro wrestler, Kazushi Sakuraba, as one of her big inspirations.
“Kazushi Sakuraba has always been one of my favorites, since watching him in Pride FC. His theatrics are what caught my eye and made me realize I wanted to be just like him. I also loved watching Luna, she was my idol. Eddie and Dean Malenko were so technical, as well as Lita, Chyna and Rey Mysterio. Can’t forget the Rock and Stone Cold either.”
In 2017, just one year into her wrestling career, Lindsay got the chance to tryout for WWE and has said it was one of the best experiences of her life, but also one of the hardest things she has ever done.
“I’d love the opportunity to go back to the PC. Who wouldn’t? It was an amazing experience and they have something so special there. It was something I will truly never forget.”
She would love to get another tryout with WWE, but she also dreams of wrestling in Japan, where she draws a lot of her inspirations.
“Everyone wants a contract at some point in their career, but my dream is to go to Japan. I have so much respect for the way they train and fight out there.”
Besides, pro wrestling and jiu-jitsu, the self-proclaimed “creep” has been a tattoo artist for 15 years and works out of a shop in Florida. Between wrestling, martial arts, tattooing and her love for sci-fi “B” movies, Lindsay is busy women. She is also currently in the running to become Inked Magazine’s Cover Girl for 2019.
Linsday Snow may not be a household name to all, but her dedication and uniqueness in the ring makes her destined for success. Keep an eye out for “The American Kaiju” as she tears up the independent wrestling scene.
