Becky Lynch wants a follow-up to WWE’s first-ever all women’s pay-per-view event, Evolution.
Lynch recently spoke to TalkSPORT, where she expressed her belief that WWE has the capability to do Evolution 2, with or without Ronda Rousey involved.
“First and foremost, it was one of the best pay-per-views of the year. And that’s not me being biased, that’s a fact. It had Match of the Year on it, including yours truly. Absolutely, I don’t see any reason why not. I think we have a strong enough women’s division [without Rousey], as long as they tell the stories around us and let us go. And… that’s all I’ll say.”
Evolution was objectively one of the best events of 2018. Lynch and Charlotte Flair faced off in the first Last Woman Standing match on the main roster. The bout easily stole the show and received high praise online. To date, it is the highest-rated WWE women’s match.
Many detractors believe Rousey was the sole reason the historic event was possible. However, WWE has a stacked roster full of talented female superstars who could carry a show.
Even more, this could be an opportunity to elevate some of the women who don’t usually get the chance to perform on such a big stage. The possibility of putting all five respective women’s champions on the same card alone seems like enough of a reason to push for a sequel to Evolution.
There’s still an unnamed pay-per-view on WWE’s event calendar slated for October. So, there is still some hope that Evolution could be in the cards, but the fact that the company hasn’t made an announcement yet isn’t a good sign.
