Today, Smash Wrestling hosted a landmark all women’s supershow called The Summit at The MET – Midtown Event Theatre. To mark the occasion, the Toronto-based indie promotion crowned its first women’s champion, Rosemary.

Rosemary faced off against KC Spinelli for the vacant title. The two Canadian wrestlers have wrestled several times in the past, most notably for IMPACT in 2017 and again earlier this year.
The Smash Women’s Championship match kicked off the show with a strong opener. Fellow Canadian women’s wrestler, Xandra Bale, made an appearance as the special guest referee.
In the end, Rosemary won via pinfall to become the inaugural Smash Wrestling Women’s Champion. The new champion was showered with “You deserve it” chants as she raised the belt for the first time.
Smash Wrestling has been a focal point for independent wrestling in Canada since 2012. They should be applauded for hosting such a massive event during SummerSlam weekend to highlight women’s wrestling.
The fact that they took the opportunity to debut their women’s championship as well speaks volume. Hopefully, there will be more events like this in the years to come and the promotion builds a strong legacy around the new title.
