Major League Wrestling (MLW) teased the introduction of their long-awaited women’s division.
The company sparked discussion on their Twitter account with the caption, “The much anticipated MLW Women’s Division could be on the horizon!! Who would YOU want to see in an MLW Women’s Division?”
MLW was founded in 2002, but they notably closed their doors in March of 2004. The promotion returned in 2017 and launched a live show last November.
Fusion has featured many intergender matches, but they have yet to introduce a women’s world title. Women’s wrestling is more popular than ever, so now is as good of a time as any.
Apparently, there have been plans to develop a women’s division since last year.
The company has the potential to put together a great women’s division. They have a working relationship with IMPACT, The Crash Lucha Libre, and Lucha Libre AAA Worldwide. In addition, some of their performers have been allowed to work with All Elite Wrestling.
Back in May, Salina de la Renta restructured her deal with MLW to become the first-ever Latina executive producer for an American wrestling show. Salina could be instrumental in establishing a women’s roster.
They also hired Dr. Tom Prichard, who was a top trainer at WWE, as a senior agent. He will join the company next month ahead of their next event, War Chamber.
