AEW isn’t the only big show happening this weekend in Illinois. RISE Wrestling’s big event Regional Rising Stars Tournament takes place just miles away from Chicago on Sunday afternoon. The Regional Rising Stars Tournament is a chance for the promotion to showcase some of the best independent talent in the Midwest.
RISE, whose mantra is ” Developing Tomorrow’s Wrestling Attractions”, has chosen eight young up and coming women to compete in this tournament. Since many of the former RISE competitors have signed on to bigger promotions like AEW and WWE, the company is looking to find new stars.
The competitors for the tournament are listed below.
–Hawlee Cromwell: The Washington native is a self-proclaimed ” pro wrestling sorceress from the dark moon who loves kicking faces off.” She is a three-year veteran of the ring and has wrestled for such promotions as RISE, Shimmer, and Girl Fight to name a few.
–Laynie Luck: The 27 year-old Kansas-born Laynie Lane began her career in 2015 and has wrestled all over the United States. She has a love for unicorns and for kicking butt. She has also wrestled under the name Amber Lynn.
–Sierra: Sierra made her debut in 2015 in her home state of Wisconsin and has been tearing up the Midwest Wrestling scene ever since. She has held many championships through out her career and is currently the RCCW Heartbreaker’s Champion for River City Championship Wrestling.
–Queen Aminata: Queen Aminata has been making a name for herself on the indy circuit and even appeared on SmackDown in April as an enhancement talent. Born in Guinea, she is a fierce competitor and fitness guru who has also wrestled for Shimmer.
–Elayna Black: The “Sorceress of Sin ” is only 18-years old and the youngest in the tournament. She has wrestled for RISE, Zelo and Freelance and has the home-field advantage in the tournament, being from Chi-Town.
–Sophie King: King is another up and coming young star who hails from St. Louis. She has the talent and mic skills to go far in the industry. Sophie is no stranger to RISE; she wrestled Ray Lyn in June at Pride & Joy.
–Max The Impaler: Max The Impaler makes her RISE debut at this event. She is replacing the injured Big Mama. With under a year of in-ring experience, Max The Impaler has a lot to prove. She trained in her home state at Ohio Pro Wrestling Academy and is a USS National qualifying Strongwoman.
–Valentina Loca: Loca moved from New Mexico to Illinois to train at Black and Brave Wrestling Academy, which is co-owned by Seth Rollins. With two years under her belt, she doesn’t let her small stature stop her. Loca has been turning heads all over the midwest, including RISE and Shimmer.
The Regional Rising Stars Tournament is definitely going to be a can’t-miss tournament with amazing talent who have a desire to be the next big thing. Besides the tournament, other matches include:
