Following the opening match AEW All Out’s Buy In pre-show, we now know one-half of the competitors who will challenge for the inaugural AEW Women’s Championship.
For those unaware, the Women’s Casino Battle Royale was meant to decide who will challenge for the title on All Elite Wrestling’s debut episode on TNT. The match gave us familiar faces like Awesome Kong, Leva Bates and Brandi Rhodes. We also got some new faces making their in-ring debut like Big Swole, Sadie Gibbs, Ivelisse and Teal Piper. Even had a few surprise names like Mercedes Martinez, ODB, Priscilla Kelly and Tenille Dashwood make their debuts as well.
In the final minutes, the match dwindled down to a final three: Nyla Rose, Britt Baker and Bea Priestley. Throughout the match, the latter two were highlighted as intensifying their feud that started at AEW Fight for the Fallen in the match where Baker suffered a concussion.
The conclusion came when Baker eliminated Priestley and – in a finish reminiscent to WWE’s 1992 Royal Rumble match – Priestley refused to let go of Baker’s arm from the outside. As she pulled Baker towards her, Rose took the opportunity to push Baker out and win the match.
We now know one-half of the Oct. 2 AEW World Women’s Championship match. Hopefully, before tonight’s PPV ends, we find out who Rose will be facing on the promotion’s television premiere episode.
