GLOW will return for one more season. Earlier today, Netflix announced that they have renewed the critically acclaimed series for a fourth and final season.
The series debuted in June of 2017. It’s based on the Gorgeous Ladies of Wrestling, a promotion founded by David McLane in 1986. The third season of GLOW, which centered around the cast’s move to Las Vegas, premiered last month on Aug. 9.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, “Liz Flahive and Carly Mensch will return as showrunners, writers and executive producers to wrap the series they created alongside executive producers Jenji Kohan, Tara Herrmann, and Mark Burley.”
They haven’t announced a release date yet, but the show typically returns with a new 10-episode season in the summer.
The last season ended with a cliffhanger because Flahive and Mensch had more stories to tell. So, it will be interesting to see where they pick up from here.
“We have a full story to tell and whether or not we’re idiots for not giving ourselves an ending this season remains to be seen,” said Flahive. “We’ve played it this way every season, where we’ve sort of left it all on the field. This show has a big heart and a big cast and big story to tell, and other people are not going to set that limit for us. We can’t do that, because it wouldn’t be fair to what we’re trying to do. We’d love to have the opportunity to give the show a satisfying ending.”
What did you think of the most recent season of GLOW? Do you think one more season is enough to wrap up their ongoing stories?
