Unfortunately, Shotzi Blackheart won’t be able to take part in Freelance Wrestling‘s Game of the Gender show tonight. However, in a stunning revelation, the Chicago-based independent promotion announced Kylie Rae will be her replacement.
This unexpected announcement comes off the heels of the news that Kylie Rae requested her release from AEW.
In a media scrum following All Out, Tony Khan said she asked for her release and they granted it. He also stated that the split was amicable.
Rae hasn’t been in the ring in four months. Her last appearance was in a handicap match at Freelance Vs. The World 5 back in June. She hadn’t wrestled for AEW since her debut at Double or Nothing.
Since she mysteriously deactivated her Twitter account and canceled her remaining booking, causing many fans to worry. There has been much speculation around Kylie Rae’s sudden disappearance.
There were some reports that she was merely dealing with a medical issue and she would return soon. Once Khan confirmed she was no longer with AEW, it seemed like there was something else going on.
It’s still unclear what this all means, but Freelance is a fitting place for the hometown standout to return. Rae has an extensive history with the promotion, where she held the FW Championship.
For all we know this could just be a one-off, but, hopefully, this is a sign that Kylie Rae isn’t done with wrestling.
