Zeda Zhang joins MLW’s new women’s division

Major League Wrestling (MLW) has been teasing plans to introduce a women’s division for the last few months. Today, they revealed the first official member of the roster— Zeda Zhang.

This morning, the company’s CEO, Court Bauer, tweeted, “In just a few minutes MLW will reveal the first of many to sign on and join the women’s division. Can’t wait to finally share this one with our fans.”

Moments later they made the official announcement that Zeda Zhang signed an exclusive multi-year contract with them via their Twitter account.

Zhang made an appearance with MLW in 2018 after she was released by WWE. The Chinese-American wrestler signed and joined the Performance Center on Jan. 4, 2017. She made her NXT debut and participated in the Mae Young Classic in the following summer.

After the company released her back in June, she worked to make a name for herself as an independent wrestler. She notable returned to her home country in December to compete for Oriental Wrestling Entertainment (OWE), which gave her the opportunity to train with legendary Japanese wrestler—CIMA.

MLW’s women’s division will become a part of their programming later this year. They plan to announce more details about it, as well as Zeda Zhang’s first match, soon.
