Sasha Banks: No Stranger to Making History

Sasha Banks vs. Bayley 30-minute Ironwoman Match – NXT Takeover: Respect 2015

Sasha Banks and Bayley were the first women to compete in an Ironwoman Match and the main event of a WWE NXT event. At the time, this was also the longest women’s match in WWE until the 2018 Royal Rumble

Fans still get goosebumps talking about this match. The bout came after the Four Horsewomen put on competitive matches that weren’t seen on the main roster yet. NXT trained these four upcoming stars and gave them the same amount of time as the men.

Sasha and Bayley started what became one of the greatest rivalries in WWE history. After a groundbreaking match between the two at NXT TakeOver: Brooklyn, with Bayley winning the NXT Women’s Championship from Banks, the demand was there.

People wanted more and didn’t want to see this epic feud end. The two clashed for the last time in NXT at TakeOver: Respect. It became the first women’s ironwoman match, and to headline a major WWE event card. It didn’t disappoint. Many still regard it as one of the best matches in WWE history.  

Sasha Banks vs. Charlotte Flair – Hell in a Cell 2016

The first women’s Hell in a Cell match, and the first women’s match to main event a major WWE pay-per-view.

Looking back there are a lot of mixed reviews for this battle between Sasha and Charlotte Flair. However, it did make history and WWE presented as a huge moment.

“The Boss” and “The Queen” are the first women to participate in the signature match stipulation, following in Mankind, Shawn Michaels, and The Undertaker’s footsteps.

The Raw Women’s Champion, Sasha Banks, who lost the belt to Charlotte Flair in front of a hometown crowd after a false start. Both competitors brought high spots, counters, and emotions to this historic main event.

Banks entered the demonic structure for a second time against Becky Lynch on Sunday, in what became the best match of the night.
