WWE Draft 2019 two-night breakdown

The 2019 WWE Draft kicked off on Friday night on SmackDown. On the first night, Becky Lynch made history as the first overall pick for Raw.

The Raw Women’s Champion will unsurprisingly remain on the “A Show”. Still, the fact that she was selected first illustrates how valuable “The Man” has become.

In the second round, SmackDown drafted Sasha Banks. “The Boss hasn’t appeared on the “blue brand” as a member of its roster in three years. The change of scenery did wonders for Bayley. It could do the same for Banks.

In the next round, Raw drafted Alexa Bliss and Natalya. Meanwhile, Lacey Evans made the jump to SmackDown.

Evans showed real promise last week a Last Woman Standing Match with “The Queen of Harts.” It will be interesting to see what kind of roles she plays on Fox now that Bayley has emerged as a top heel.

To round out the night, Nikki Cross remained on Raw with her tag team partner, Bliss. Over the weekend, Tamina made the move back to SmackDown as an additional pick.

Tonight, Becky Lynch will face Charlotte to determine which brand will receive the first pick. Flair was a substitute for Banks, who wasn’t cleared to compete.

After a hard-fought match, Lynch won to grant Raw the first pick on Night Two. In the first round, USA selected Flair. She and Becky proved their rivalry still has some heat, but, hopefully, WWE keeps them in other feuds for a while.

Next up, Raw selected The Kabuki Warriors and SmackDown picked Bayley. In the fourth round, Carmella remained on Fox. Lastly, Liv Morgan moved back to Raw in the final round.

The final results

  • Raw: Becky Lynch (c), Alexa Bliss, Natalya, Nikki Cross, Charlotte Flair, Zelina Vega, Asuka and Kairi Sane (c), and Liv Morgan
  • SmackDown: Bayley (c), Sasha Banks, Lacey Evans, Tamina, and Carmella
  • Undrafted women: Dana Brooke, The IIconics, Mandy Rose, Sarah Logan, and Sonya Deville
  • Injured/Unlisted: Alicia Fox, Lana, Maria Kanellis, Mickie James, Naomi, Nia Jax, Ronda Rousey, and Ruby Riott
