Last night at a house show in Jacksonville, NXT Women’s Champion, Shayna Baszler, announced that there will be an all-women’s card on Dec. 5.
The show will also take place in Jacksonville, Florida and Baszler will defend her title on the card. WWE hasn’t made an official announcement yet, and it’s unclear if the event will be a network special.
Still, this is potentially good news for women’s wrestling fans, who were hoping to see a return of the Mae Young Classic or a sequel to Evolution. This doesn’t guarantee that either of those events will happen this year. However, it does indicate that WWE knows that demand for them exists.
As for the card in question, NXT’s women’s division is stacked. This sets the table for a host of interesting matchups. Baszler didn’t say who she will defend the NXT Women’s Championship against, but there is no shortage of worthy contenders.
Hopefully, the event will air on the WWE Network and it will lead to more shows like this in the future. Let’s all keep our fingers crossed in hopes that the company will announce something big featuring its female superstars following Crown Jewel.
