WWE Crown Jewel to feature first-ever women’s match

WWE announced early this morning, that they would be holding a women’s match at Crown Jewel, the first to take place in Saudi Arabia.

WWE announced the historical match at a press conference at King Fahd International Stadium in Riyadh, on Wednesday.

The match will be the first WWE women’s match to ever take place in Saudi Arabia, and will air on the upcoming Crown Jewel pay-per-view. Crown Jewel takes place during Riyadh Season, which features more than 100 events over a two-month span.

Natalya and Lacey Evans will be featured in the match, facing each other one-on-one. No explanation was given as to why these two particular female superstars were chosen to be in the match.

Fans are still hesitant to watch the pay-per-view, even after the historical announcement citing there’s other issues at hand than women being able to compete inside the country. Saudi Arabia’s government has been the focal point of increasing political drama, including the murder of Jamal Khashoggi.

This announcement also comes after criticism that WWE has forgotten about the women’s evolution, forgoing any planning of Evolution 2.

Crown Jewel will take place on Oct. 31, streaming live on the WWE Network at 8 p.m. AST/1 p.m. EST.
