At SHIMMER 116, Hyan, Rhia O’Reilly, and Kris Statlander competed in a triple threat elimination match. “The Renaissance Woman” ultimately came out on top and became the Interim Heart of SHIMMER Champion.
Yesterday, Hyan defeated Brittany Blake with The Beauty Sleep at Volume 114. The win guaranteed her a spot in today’s triple threat match against O’Reilly and Statlander, who also won their respective qualifying matches.
Today, they faced off in the seventh match at SHIMMER 116. These three put on a great show for the Berwyn Eagles Club crowd.
Rhia O’Reilly scored the first elimination after she nailed Kris Statlander with a DDT, making it a one-on-one fight with Hyan. However, the current Sabotage Women’s Champion eventually won, adding another title to her list of accomplishments.
Of course, Samantha Heights will have a claim on the Heart of SHIMMER Championship when she returns. The now-former champion sustained a knee injury this summer. She later revealed she would need to undergo surgery to repair her ACL.
SHIMMER initially planned to continue to recognize her as the champion, but her surgery was delayed. Unfortunately, this meant she would have to vacate the title because she will be out longer than expected.
Nevertheless, Hyan will be the Interim Heart of SHIMMER Champion until she recuperates. It will be interesting to see what this means when Heights returns to the ring next year.
There are more title matches scheduled for today. So, be sure to check back with Bell to Belles for more updates following SHIMMER 116 and 117.
