On tonight’s episode of NXT, Kay Lee Ray made a surprise appearance to help Shayna Baszler’s team gain an advantage ahead of WarGames.
In the main event, Io Shirai and Mia Yim battled it out in a ladder match. The bout would determine which team would receive an advantage in the first-ever women’s WarGames match at TakeOver.
After a show-stopping match, it looked like Shirai would ascend the ladder and pull down the briefcase. However, Dakota Kai interfered to help Mia Yim.
In another twist, the NXT UK Women’s Champion, Kay Lee Ray, ran down and jumped Kai. Then, she tipped over the ladder, sending Yim crashing through another ladder below.
This set the table for Shirai to win the match and give her team the advantage at NXT TakeOver: WarGames. Afterward, Bianca Belair joined Shirai and Kay Lee Ray in the ring to celebrate.
The win seemed to position Ray as the final member of Baszler’s team, which Triple H confirmed later on Twitter.
So, both teams are set. Team Ripley will consist of Rhea Ripley, Tegan Nox, Candice LeRae and Mia Yim. Meanwhile, Team Baszler will be Shayna Baszler, Bianca Belair, Io Shirai, and Kay Lee Ray.
NXT TakeOver: WarGames III will take place on Saturday, Nov. 23, the night before Survivor Series.
