Giulia officially signs with Stardom

Stardom announced that the former International Ribbon Tag Team Champion, Giulia, has officially signed with the company.

Giulia surprised many fans last month when she requested her release from Ice Ribbon. The next day she made an appearance for Stardom at Korakuen Hall and announced that she planned to join the company.

Giulia is the Italian version of Julia, which should give you a hint about her lineage. She was born to Japanese and Italian parents and raised in Chiba.

She started training with Ice Ribbon in 2017 with Mio Shirai, sister of the former Ace of Stardom—Io Shirai. Giulia debuted later that year in October and went on to win the promotion’s “New Face” award.

Over the summer, she and Tequila Saya became the International Ribbon Tag Team Champions. They held the titles for three months. A few weeks later she announced she was leaving Ice Ribbon.

It has been a big year for Stardom. Bushiroad’s acquisition of the company sent shockwaves throughout the industry. In addition, Giulia is the third high-profile Joshi wrestler to join the company this year.

She is the second to come from Ice Ribbon, with Riho joining them earlier this year.

Giulia’s abrupt departure sparked a bit of controversy with Ice Ribbon and its fans. However, Stardom is in a position to offer wrestlers large contracts and international exposure.

That is potentially good news for Joshi fans and upcoming talent, but it certainly won’t make their competitors happy.
