The newest additions to the AEW women’s division

This week, Big Swole and Kris Statlander joined the AEW women’s division as the newest additions to the roster. In addition, there was a surprise appearance on last night’s episode of Dynamite.

According to Jeremy Lambert of Fightful, Big Swole confirmed with them that she has signed with AEW. Squared Circle Sirens was the first report the news but this is the first time Swole has given official confirmation.

The current Pheonix of RISE Champion had been having a breakout year. So, this is a great acquisition for the company. Given her recent appearances on AEW Dark, she appears to be a perfect fit.

Yesterday, Brandi Rhodes confirmed that Kris Statlander also signed with the new promotion after her suggestion. There have been rumors that a deal was in the works. However, Rhodes revealed that Statlander is onboard during her interview with Jonathan Snowden of Bleacher Report.

While clarifying her role with the company she said, “I do make the suggestions for new talent, for instance, signing Kris Statlander.”

Statlander took part in an incredible match with Hikaru Shida last night. This was her second appearance on Dynamite after she debuted last week as Shida’s partner in a tag match with Emi Sakura and Bea Priestley.

After she defeated Hikaru, Rhodes and Awesome Kong came to the ring and try to get her to pledge her allegiance to the “Nightmare Collective.” Before Statlander could respond, a bystander in the crowd agreed to align with them.

The seemingly random fan turned out to be an independent wrestler, Melanie Cruise. She is known best for her time with RISE, where she was a former Guardians of Rise Champion as a part of “Paradise Lost.”

Rhodes and Kong proceed to cut her hair off before they walked her to the back. Although she seemed to join their new stable, it’s unclear if she signed with AEW. For now, we will just have to wait and see.
