AEW took to Twitter to announce a huge update on the women’s championship match set to take place on their Homecoming edition of Dynamite. In the original match, Riho was scheduled to defend her title against the number one contender, Kris Statlander.

Riho will now defend her title in a four-way match against Nyla Rose, Britt Baker, and Hikaru Shida. The reason for the change is that Statlander had a prior commitment on New Year’s Day. She will face Gisele Shaw at Bar Wrestling in lieu of the match against Riho.

Kris Statlander became the number one contender on the Dec. 18 episode of Dynamite when she defeated Britt Baker. Although she will not wrestle on Jan. 1, she will receive her match for the title in the following week. “The Galaxy’s Greatest Alien” will take on the winner of the fatal four-way match on the Jan. 8 episode of Dynamite.
