Impact has named their Knockout of the Year, and it’s the Knockouts Champion, Taya Valkyrie.
Last night, during Impact’s 2019 IMPACT! Year End Awards, aired during the first of two special episodes of IMPACT! on AXS TV, the promotion handed out three awards, including Knockout of the Year.
Current Impact Knockouts Champion Taya Valkyrie took home the gold. Valkyrie is still in her first reign at Impact, now the longest Knockouts reign with a total of 355+ days. The Knockout won the belt at the Jan. 6 Impact pay-per-view Homecoming, where she defeated Tessa Blanchard in a 10-minute brawl.
On Valkyrie, Impact had this to say in their press release regarding the awards:
“Valkyrie adds Knockout of the Year to her impressive list of 2019 accolades, which include her current reign as Knockouts Champion—the longest in IMPACT Wrestling history—and her third reign as the AAA Reina de Reinas Champion, both titles she won from Tessa Blanchard.”
Blanchard won’t go home empty handed, however. She is scheduled to be presented the award for Finishing Move of the Year with her “Magnum”.
Impact will continue their year-end award ceremony on Jan. 4, where hosts Josh Mathews and Scott D’Amore will hand out the awards for Tag Team of the Year, Wrestler of the Year and Impact Match of the Year, in another special episode, starting at 8 p.m. EST.
Impact returns to its regular schedule Jan. 7 ahead of Hard To Kill Sunday, Jan. 12 live from the Bomb Factory in Dallas.
