Galaxy’s Greatest Alien Kris Statlander will face the defending champ for the AEW Women’s World Championship during next week’s AEW Dynamite.
On the Dec. 18 episode of Dynamite that aired from Corpus Christi, Kris Statlander defeated Britt Baker in a no. 1 contender’s match for a future opportunity at an AEW Women’s World Championship title match.
It looks like Statlander’s opponent has been decided. On Jan. 8, during the Anniversary Edition of Dynamite celebrating the company’s one-year anniversary of their inaugural press conference, Statlander will face Riho for the Women’s World Championship.
The title match was originally scheduled for Jan. 1, but due to Statlander’s prior commitment with Bar Wrestling, the match was rescheduled to the following Dynamite. AEW then decided to turn the title match into a fatal four-way featuring Riho, Hikaru Shida, Baker, and Nyla Rose.
News broke in early December that AEW signed Statlander, and it appears to be a good move. The Alien is still undefeated in singles competition, which could serve as a real threat to the champ.
Riho has held the title since the inaugural episode of Dynamite, reigning over the division for 90-plus days.
The Anniversary Edition of Dynamite will air on Jan. 8 at the same time and place.
