Indie Spotlight: Faye Jackson

Faye Jackson has been wrestling for almost four years and in that time she has made quite the name for herself.

A graduate of the Ring of Honor Dojo, Jackson had her debut match against none other than ODB. Since her debut, she has wrestled for independent promotion including, Pro Wrestling EVE, Nova Pro, Beyond Wrestling and countless others.

Faye grew up watching wrestling and became obsessed with it in her later teens. She was approached by a promoter at an indie show she attended and the rest is history. Jackson didn’t think she fit the mold of what a wrestler should look like but thanks to a great support system she has proven herself wrong.

Faye currently holds the Pro Wrestling Magic Women’s Championship and the Brii Combination Women’s Championship.

When she started watching pro wrestling:

“I watched as a child with my uncle and cousins but I didn’t really fall in love with it until my jr. high years. Then I became obsessed.”

Her journey into pro wrestling:

“I went to an indie show just to watch and the promoter came up to me at the time telling me I stood out like a sore thumb, in a good way. Asked if I was interested in the business and my answer was hell no because I didn’t think I was athletic enough. He still invited me to his school and after my first bump, I said hell no again. But they kept me around to be a valet and sell raffle tickets. “

“Eventually the different locker rooms I worked in told me I need to wrestle because I was different. The different people I managed like Grim Reefer and Big Daddy would show me small things in the ring so I could be more active and involved. Finally, I decided if I’m gonna learn I will go to a legitimate school. I looked up a couple of schools in my area and in my search, I saw the ROH dojo wasn’t too far so I signed up in January 2015.”

Inspirations in the ring:

” I would say my main person was Jaqueline because she was the only one at that time that looked like me and kicked major ass. Also, I watched a lot of ECW (which is ironic because I won’t do anything hardcore lol) and I was a big fan of Tommy Dreamer, Beulah, RVD, Shane Douglas, Francine, and New Jack. I was always a huge fan of Chyna and The Rock because they were both so different.”

Her in-ring style:

“I use my body as a weapon. Everything from hips, ass, and chest. Because I got them, people like to look at it but nobody can handle it.”

Favorite match/opponent to date:

“I’m very critical of myself so honestly, I don’t have a favorite match. Anybody in my circle knows I hate just about everything I do so I always ask other people what their favorite match of mine is. “

Future goals:

“I just go as far as God takes me. I think I’m already helping change the image of wrestling so even if I’m done tomorrow, I’m satisfied.”

Dream opponents:

“My dream opponents are people that I know will make me better. My coach Homicide always motivates me to be better and I’m scared as shit to get in the ring with him so he’s my dream opponent right now. “

Inspirational words:

“I get asked all the time, especially by women that don’t think they fit in this business, what keeps you motivated. My answer is simple: To prove everybody wrong. I don’t fit the mold, I can be outspoken, and because of that people don’t want to be associated with me. All I can do is motivate myself to keep going. Be your biggest cheerleader. “
