At the recent Just Tap Out show, Stardom signee Giulia recruited Maika after her match against Utami Hayashishita.
Maika unsuccessfully challenged Utami Hayashishita for the Future of Stardom Championship at Korakuen Hall. However, what happened after the match was more noteworthy.
Giulia entered the ring and invited Maika to join her. This would tie into her recent story with Stardom. The newest addition to the Joshi promotion has been on her own against Hana Kimura and Tokyo Cyber Squad.
In fact, Giulia will take them on in a six-woman tag match at Stardom’s 9th Anniversary show. She teamed up with Andras Miyagi take on the Goddess of Champions, Jungle Kyona and Konami, earlier this week.
That pairing was shortlived as Giulia declared she would find a new partner after Kyona pinned Miyagi to win the match. Maika could be one of her teammates this weekend, and an eventual stablemate. If so, she will need to recruit one more partner this week.
It will be interesting to see if this is a one-time team or a new unit. Giulia is clearly poised for a push with Stardom, so it wouldn’t be far-fetched to assume she could lead the next big faction.
Giulia took part in that the dark match at Wrestle Kingdom 14. She also fought Kagetsu to a draw in their first-time match over the weekend in Osaka. Considering it will be one of Kagetsu’s farewell matches, those are two huge opportunities.
This could also just be set up for her to join an existing faction like Oedo Tai.
