Recently, Charlotte Flair discussed the main event of TLC 2019, which became a target for some pointed criticism in December.
At the event, Flair and Becky Lynch challenged The Kabuki Warriors for the WWE Tag Team Championship in a TLC match. The end result garnered a decidedly mixed reception. In addition, Kairi Sane possibly suffered a concussion sometime during the bout.
Today, Flair participated in an exclusive interview with talkSPORT, where she spoke about the experience.
“It didn’t [affect the match] in the moment,” Charlotte said. “I guess, everyone, how they felt afterward is what made them feel different. In the moment, it was more it’s a tough spot. It’s the main event of a brutal pay-per-view and everyone has already seen Tables, Ladders and Chairs.”
“The Queen” also said it was difficult to deliver a match with such high expectations on a card with other matches with similar stipulations.
“It’s feeding off the crowd, going with the crowd and feeding off their reactions. So I didn’t really think anything until after,” she continued. “Obviously Kairi was hurt, but in the match, I’m just thinking ‘how do we keep people invested?’ with them already seeing so many different TLC, brutal matches. You’ve already seen a kendo stick, you’ve already seen a chair, you’ve seen a ladder, a table.”
This week, Sane went back on the road with WWE. Hopefully, she will be back in action in time for Royal Rumble.
