Lacey Evans vs. Bayley scheduled for WWE Royal Rumble

Friday night on SmackDown, WWE announced that Lacey Evans will challenge Bayley for the SmackDown Women’s Championship at Royal Rumble.

For the last few weeks, Lacey has been engaged in a heated feud with Sasha Banks and Bayley. On last week’s episode of SmackDown, Evans was supposed to face off against Banks. But “The Blueprint” didn’t show up, which sparked a backstage brawl between Evans and Bayley.

Tonight, Evans attacked Bayley and Banks off-camera, injuring “The Boss” in the process. Banks was unable to compete, so the SmackDown Women’s Champion replaced her in a one-on-one match with “The Sassy Southern Belle.”

Bayley controlled the fight all the way through. However, Evans managed to catch her with a Woman’s Right out of nowhere to pull off an upset.

The big win over the reigning champion granted Lacey Evans a shot at the champion next weekend at Royal Rumble.

Coincidentally, Evans made her official main roster debut last year at the event as entrant no. one in the women’s Royal Rumble match. She lasted for over 29 minutes before she was eliminated by Charlotte Flair.

Royal Rumble will take place on Sunday, Jan. 26 at Minute Maid Park in Houston, TX.
