This Saturday, the NXT UK Women’s Champion, Kay Lee Ray, will face Mia Yim on the pre-show before Worlds Collide.
On Tuesday, WWE announced that the two will compete this weekend at the co-branded event. This doesn’t appear to be a title match but there are storied reasons for it.
After all, Kay Lee Ray interfered in a ladder match between Mia Yim and Io Shirai. The bout would determine which team gained an advantage in the women’s WarGames back in August.
As Yim climbed the ladder to reach for the briefcase above, Ray ran down and tipped it over, sending the “HBIC” crashing through a ladder below.
Afterward, Shirai won the match and the NXT UK Women’s Champion became the final member of Team Baszler. Yim sustained extensive injuries from the run-in, so this is her chance for revenge.
Worlds Collide will replace the traditional TakeOver event this year during Royal Rumble weekend.
Toni Storm will challenge Rhea Ripley for the NXT Women’s Championship on the main card. The winner will defend the title against Bianca Belair next month at NXT TakeOver: Portland.
Worlds Collide will take place on Saturday, Jan. 25 at the Honda Center in Houston, Texas. The pre-show will begin at 6:30 pm EST.
