New champions were crowned this weekend at the latest STARDOM event. Giulia’s new unit, Donna del Mondo, are the new Artist of Stardom Champions.
The construction of this new faction has been a major plotline for the last two months. First, Giulia recruited Maika at a recent Just Tap Out show. Then, Syuri joined them in their debut as a trio at STARDOM’s 9th Anniversary Show.
At the event, they defeated Tokyo Cyber Squad—Hana Kimura, Death Yama-san, and Leyla Hirsch—in a six-woman tag match. Afterward, Donna Del Mondo made it clear that they planned to challenge Queen’s Quest for the Artist of Stardom Championship.
STARDOM made the match official last week. Today, Donna del Mondo challenged AZM, Momo Watanabe, and Utami Hayashishita for the titles at Korakuen Hall.
Giulia came into this bout with all of the momentum and Queen’s Quest suffered two big losses recently. That trend continued as Giulia planted AZM with a Tombstone Piledriver to win her first title with STARDOM. Donna del Mondo will be a force to reckon with.
Earlier in the show, a reinvigorated version of Oedo Tai defeated Tokyo Cyber Squad to become the number one contenders for the Artist of Stardom Championship.
TCS was looking to avenge their loss to Donna del Mondo last month. However, Natsuko Tora, Saki Kashima, and Natsu Sumire will go on to challenge for the titles at a future event.
