On last night’s episode of IMPACT!, Jordynne Grace defeated Taya Valkyrie to become the new IMPACT Knockouts Champion.
After nearly a year, Grace finally achieved her goal and ended Valkyrie’s record-setting 378-day reign.
Their rivalry started last March when “Thick Mama Pump” upset Tessa Blanchard to become the new number one contender. Unfortunately, “La Wera Loca” managed to escape with the title at Against All Odds, where she retained via count-out.
Grace didn’t receive a rematch until this year at Hard to Kill. However, she came up short again as Valkyrie pinned ODB, who Jordynne laid out with the Grace Driver.
Two weeks ago, Grace won a triple threat match to earn another shot a the title she was seconds away from claiming. Tuesday, she entered the match more determined to get the job done.
This was a spectacular fight filled with jaw-dropping spots and thrilling near falls. At one point, Valkyrie hit the challenger with a powerbomb on steel steps and a Road to Valhalla on the ramp. Surprisingly, Grace made it back in the ring to beat the count.
Later, Jordynne hit the champion with a savage muscle buster off the top rope but she survived somehow. John E. Bravo was a nuisance throughout, causing distractions and pulling Valkyrie out of the ring to stop a three count.
Ultimately, Bravo couldn’t even stop “Thick Mama Pump” as she landed a senton to get him out of the way and a final Grace Drive to secure the win. The show ended as IMPACT crowned Jordynne Grace the new Knockouts Champion.
