Next week, Naomi will face Carmella to decide who will challenge Bayley for the SmackDown Women’s Championship at Super Showdown.
On tonight’s episode, Carmella took on Bayley in a title match to open the show. She earned the right to challenge for the belt on last week’s episode.
The two had an excellent showing together. The Vancouver was behind the “The Princess of Staten Island” throughout, and she gave the champion everything she had.
Unfortunately, it wasn’t enough because Bayley used the ropes to beat her with a leveraged pin. Afterward, “The Role Model” beatdown Carmella, prompting an appearance from Naomi.
Then, she and Carmella subsequently worked together to force Bayley out of the ring. Backstage, the champion said she will defend the title against Super Showdown and she doesn’t care who challenges her.
For the remainder of the show, Naomi and Carmella pleaded their case for a shot at Bayley in separate backstage interviews. Finally, WWE revealed that they will compete in a one-on-one match next week to determine the new number one contender. The winner will take on Bayley at Super Showdown.
So, one of them will compete in the first WWE women’s championship match in Saudi Arabia.
