After weeks of speculation, we finally know who Charlotte Flair will challenge at WrestleMania 36.
Last month, “The Queen” won the third women’s Royal Rumble match to earn a shot at the title of her choice. Before she could make a decision, Rhea Ripley confronted Flair on Raw.
The NXT Women’s Champion issued a challenge to the ten-time champion as one of the few women on the roster Flair has never beat. However, Charlotte didn’t respond.
Two days later, she returned to NXT and interrupted Bianca Belair. At the end of the segment, Belair and Ripley worked together to lay Flair out, but we still never received an answer. “The Nightmare” made another appearance on Raw last week but Charlotte continued to play coy.
At NXT TakeOver: Portland, Ripley successfully defended her title against Belair in a solid match. Afterward, Flair attacked her from behind and officially accepted her challenge.
So, Charlotte Flair will challenge Rhea Ripley at WrestleMania 36 for the NXT Women’s Championship. This makes a lot of sense because it gives Flair a fresh match-up.
In addition, it gives the “the black and gold brand” a spot on “The Grandest Stage of Them All,” further cementing them as a third brand. As Charlotte walked to the back she threw Belair into the ring steps, sowing the seed for a possible triple threat match.
