Pride & Joy will return as a cross-promotional event

RISE Wrestling will host Pride & Joy for a second year as a collaborative event with another Chicago-based indie promotion, Freelance Wrestling.

Last summer, RISE hosted an inclusive wrestling show that coincided with the Chicago Pride Parade called Pride & Joy. The event showcased some of the best LGBTQ+ performers in the industry including Ashley Vox, Cassandro El Exotico, Candy Lee, and Nyla Rose.

Earlier this month, Kevin Harvey revealed that Legendary will be the final RISE live event. However, he promised that they still planned to work with Freelance Wrestling and he still had some plans for this year.

As such, the two promotions will host Pride & Joy this June on the same day as the 2020 Chicago Pride Parade. The event looks to continue to promote love, inclusion, and positive representation in pro wrestling.

They haven’t announced who will compete at the event yet, but they created so much goodwill last year. Proceeds from RISE t-shirts sales in June and a percentage of the sales from the live stream of the event went to Center on Halsted, the biggest center dedicated to the LGBTQ+ community in the Midwest.

Pride & Joy will take place on Sunday, June 28 at Logan Square Auditorium in Chicago, IL. Tickets will go on sale on Mar. 9.
