On last night’s episode of NXT, Chelsea Green became the first competitor to qualify for the No. 1 Contender’s Ladder Match slated for TakeOver: Tampa.
Rhea Ripley will be the first woman to defend the NXT Women’s Championship at WrestleMania when she squares off against Charlotte Flair. As such, there won’t be a women’s title match at NXT TakeOver: Tampa.
Last week, William Regal revealed there would a ladder match instead to determine the next number one contender. Last night, Chelsea Green faced Shotzi Blackheart in the first of a series of qualifier matches.
Green enter with her new manager, Roger Stone, who signed her to his brand back in January.
The match got off to a fast start as both women traded arm drags and counter. However, Green quickly capitalized on her opponent’s mistake to gain control. She eventually hit Blackheart with a missile dropkick and put her away with her finisher, the I’m Prettier.
So, Chelsea Green earned her spot in the ladder match and a chance to represent the Robert Stone Brand during WrestleMania weekend.
NXT TakeOver: Tampa will take place on Saturday, Apr. 4 at the Amalie Arena. Stay tuned to Bell to Belles for more updates on the No. 1 Contender’s Ladder Match.
