The annual STARDOM Cinderella Tournament will return on Tuesday. The Joshi promotion released its sixteen-woman bracket this morning.
The STARDOM Cinderella Tournament is an annual one-night event that has taken place every spring since 2015. The winner of this three-round single-elimination tournament is presented with a ceremonial ball gown and “any wish that they want.”
The win usually results in a title opportunity. If a reigning champion wins, she can choose her next challenger.
Last year’s winner, Arisa Hoshiki, wished for a shot at the Wonder of Stardom Championship. She went on to defeat Momo Watanabe for the “white belt” to become the current champion.
This year’s participants include Watanabe, Starlight Kid, Jungle Kyona, Giulia, Konami, AZM, Syuri, Jamie Hayter, Tam Nakano, Saki Kashima, Natsuko Tora, Saya Kamitani, Utami Hayashishita, Maika, Mayu Iwatani, and Hana Kimura.
The Cinderella Tournament will be the first STARDOM event to appear in front of a live audience this month. The COVID-19 outbreak forced the promotion to cancel many events last month and host an “empty arena” show on Mar. 8.
STARDOM will take precautionary measures, so fans must undergo a physical. Anyone with a temperature below 98.6 degrees will not be allowed into the venue.
The 2020 Cinderella Tournament will take place on Tuesday, Mar. 24 at Korakuen Hall. The first round will stream live on STARDOM’s YouTube channel and the full event will be available on Stardom World.
