2. Charlotte Flair vs. Ronda Rousey vs. Becky Lynch – WrestleMania 35
The Winner Take All Match at WrestleMania 35 was the most important women’s match in the history of the event. For the first time ever, female Superstars headlined the most well-known professional wrestling event in the world.
This was a landmark occasion for WWE that elevated women’s wrestling above the misconceptions that hindered it in the past. Now, detractors could no longer dismiss it as a sideshow or bathroom break.
Admittedly, the story got convoluted in the weeks ahead of the event. Still, it sparked several memorable moments like Becky’s promo the day after Royal Rumble and the outrageous segment on the Apr. 1 episode of Raw.
It was a questionable decision to add Charlotte to match. The move became even more controversial when she won the SmackDown Women’s Championship two weeks prior.
On the other hand, it’s hard to imagine the main event without her epic arrival in a helicopter. The addition of Joan Jett also added to the big fight feel.
The match itself delivered but it didn’t quite live up to all the hype, unfortunately. It was good but the lack of a definitive end to Lynch and Ronda Rousey’s rivalry hurt it.
Nevertheless, the visual of Becky Lynch holding both the Raw and SmackDown Women’s Championship will be replayed for years to come.
