3 Takeaways from WrestleMania 36 Night 1

The Raw women’s title picture is wide open

Becky Lynch vs. Shayna Baszler arguably had the best build of any of the women’s matches this weekend. Unfortunately, the end result was kind of underwhelming.

It was a good match but it never really kicked into its second gear. The fight felt too short and the finish was anticlimactic. To tell the truth, it seemed like WWE wants to save something for more matches between the two some time down the road.

That makes sense, but they built this up as a blood feud where Lynch would face an opponent who was willing to do anything. What was the point of Baszler biting her if they were going to deliver such a safe match? Lynch and Baszler needed to cut loose.

All in all, the outcome was way too open-ended and not even in an interesting way. It certainly didn’t make us want to see this match-up again because Baszler didn’t get any of her heat back.

“The Man” surprisingly retained the title. That’s not necessarily a bad thing. After all, she is still the biggest star in the division by far. However, she doesn’t have a legitimate contender now because she has beaten everyone and Baszler trounced anybody worth building up at Elimination Chamber.

So, who is the next challenger for the Raw Women’s Championship? “The Submission Magician” could earn a rematch. If so, how will they restart their feud now that Lynch outsmarted her?
