WWE releases second-generation wrestler Rachael Evers

Rachael Evers is the most recent addition to the growing list of wrestlers released by WWE in response to COVID-19.

On Wednesday night, Rachael Ellering, who worked under the ring name Rachael Evers, posted a video on Twitter promote her return. However, the clip seemed to indicate that she was no longer a part of the NXT roster.

Later, Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer confirmed that WWE had indeed released Evers. “The Queen of Strong Smile” joins a group of women who were cut from NXT including Taynara ContiDeonna Purrazzo, and MJ Jenkins.

The second-generation wrestler is the daughter of WWE Hall of Famer, Paul Ellering. She notably trained with Lance Storm and worked heavily with STARDOM, Queens of Combat, and SHIMMER before she signed with WWE.

In 2017, she began appearing on NXT and participated in the inaugural Mae Young Classic. Evers competed in the women’s tournament two years in a row but she didn’t sign with WWE until 2019.

Sadly, the 27-year-old suffered a torn ACL last summer, which kept her off television. Her last match was at an NXT live event on July 27, 2019.

Judging by the video she shared, Rachael Evers plans to return to indie wrestling, using her real name again.
