On Sunday night, Tenille Dashwood went on Instagram Live to discuss her experiences with Psoriasis and offer others advice on how to deal with the skin condition.
Psoriasis is a skin disorder that causes skin cells to multiply faster than normal, which causes the skin to build up into bumpy red patches covered with white scales.
Tenille Dashwood explained that she was first diagnosed with Psoriasis when she was around 15 years old. The IMPACT Knockout revealed that her father also had it, so it’s hereditary.
She initially started using topical creams to treat the condition, but they could damage here skin. Next, Dashwood underwent light therapy before school in the morning.
Later, she tried more forms of treatment including a drug called Methotrexate, which had side effects like hair loss. All and all, it was a tough experience for Dashwood, who was finishing up high school.
Tenille initially opened up about her struggles with Psoriasis in October of 2018 when she was forced to pull out of an overseas tour with Ring of Honor. That year, Dashwood put together a photoshoot at the advice of her friend, Danielle Moinet, better known as Summer Rae.
The pictures she released showed her back covered in rashes. It was a brave move for someone who had kept her condition secret for so long.
Yesterday, Dashwood stressed how important it is to be cognizant of what could trigger it and cause it to flare up. She regrets trying to continue to wrestle in 2018 when she first noticed it had returned. It probably wouldn’t have gotten as severe if she took some time off sooner.
Tenille Dashwood also encouraged others who have Psoriasis to be mindful of what they eat because she saw the best results when she changed her diet.
Over the last few weeks, Dashwood also reintroduced her YouTube channel, Taste of Tenille. She plans to discuss some healthy and all-natural recipes that could help soon.
