On Tuesday, Scott D’Amore announced that the Impact World Championship will be on the line at Slammiversary 2020.
On tonight’s episode of IMPACT!, D’Amore made his way down to the ring and got ready to make an announcement about the status of the world title. Before he could finish, the number one contender, Ace Austin, interrupted and demanded to be crowned the new champion.
Then, Michael Elgin entered the fray to stake his claim to the title, followed by Eddie Edwards. That’s when D’Amore revealed they would all get their chance to earn the Impact World Championship.
Tessa Blanchard will defend her title at Slammiversary 2020 in a Fatal Five-Way Elimination match. Blanchard was supposed to compete in a triple threat match against Elgin and Edwards at Rebellion in April. However, she didn’t appear at the event due to concerns about COVID-19.
She issued an apology to IMPACT fans on the day of but Tessa hasn’t been seen on television since March. Next month, she will have her hands full as she faces Elgin, Ace Austin, Edwards, and Trey Miguel in the main event of the company’s biggest pay-per-view of the year.
Slammiversary 2020 will stream live on Saturday, July 18.
