AEW’s women’s division took a huge blow as Kris Statlander reportedly suffered a knee injury during last week’s episode of Dynamite.
According to Mike Johnson of PWInsider, Statlander sustained the injury during the tag team match with Nyla Rose, Hikaru Shida, and Penelope Ford. Later, “The Galaxy’s Greatest Alien” confirmed the news via Twitter.
In the post, Statlander revealed that she has a high-grade ACL tear, which will require surgery. She also hinted that it may have happened when she landed awkwardly following a suicide dive onto Kip Sabian.
Unfortunately, this knee injury will keep her out of action for a while but she hopes to still make appearance on television.
This is bad news for AEW because they’re already working with fewer performers due to travel restrictions caused by COVID-19. In addition, Britt Baker is also out with an injury. She won’t return to in-ring competition until All Out in September.
We wish Kris Statlander a safe and successful surgery and a swift recovery.
