Abadon joins AEW, women’s title match announced

Abadon officially signed with All Elite Wrestling. The enigmatic indie wrestler made her network television debut on tonight’s episode AEW Dynamite.

Abadon made her first appearance with the company on the Mar. 4 episode of AEW Dark in a match with Hikaru Shida. Tonight, she took on another newcomer, Anna Jay.

Surprisingly, “The Living Dead Girl” defeated Jay, who AEW advertised for Wednesday night early on. In the aftermath, it looked like the Dark Order recruited Anna Jay.

After the match, AEW announced that Abadon joins them as the newest addition to their women’s roster via Twitter.

Abadon is fairly new to professional wrestling. She is known best for her time with Rocky Mountain Pro Wrestling. What she may lack in experience, she more than makes up for in character work.

In other news, Penelope Ford will challenge Hikaru Shida for the AEW Women’s World Championship at Fyter Fest. Ford seemingly earned the opportunity last week when she secured a pin on the champion to win a tag match with Nyla Rose.

Fyter Fest will be a two-night event, taking place next month on July 1 and 8. What do you think of Abadon joining AEW and the upcoming title match?

  1. All Elite Booking says:

Such a deft piece of booking. Fans, informed by the recent injuries to Baker & Statlander, could reasonably assume that Anna Jay was about to be the next heavily relied upon woman in AEW, and advertised it as such with social media posts and a pre-match video promo which was well done but not very interesting. Instead of an “enhancement match” we get a surprise monster debut by Abadon! This made me pop out of my seat and Anna Jay was immediately given a much more interesting, earned, direction by way of the Dark Order once again swooping in on a vulnerable wrestler. This was my favourite part of Dynamite this week.
