Charlotte Flair was seemingly written off television last night, but apparently she could need time off to recuperate from a legitimate injury.
On last night’s episode of Raw, Flair injured her arm during a scuffle with Nia Jax before her title match with Asuka. The injury cost her the match as the Raw Women’s Champion targeted the limb and forced her to submit to retain.
Later, Jax attacked her backstage and slammed her injured arm in a prop case. This led many fans to believe she will take some time off.
Earlier today, Alex McCarthy of talkSPORT reported that “Flair will be taking an extended break from WWE. The 34-year-old has been a constant on the show for years now and she is going to be taking some personal time and having some surgery.”
Dave Meltzer corroborated this report on Monday’s Wrestling Observer Live. WWE disclosed that Flair sustained a possible collarbone fracture. However, Meltzer maintains that it’s not a shoulder injury.
It’s unclear when “The Queen” will return. There was some hope that she would be ready by August but a source told McCarthy, “There’s a 0 percent chance Charlotte returns for SummerSlam.”
“The idea is that she will return around Royal Rumble season next year, but if a good story pops up before then – around Survivor Series – she would be open to return later this year.”
