Tokyo Joshi Pro announces Wrestle Princess

Tokyo Joshi Pro announced a tournament to mark their seven-year anniversary called Wrestle Princess.

The tournament will be the biggest event in the promotion’s history. The show will take place at Tokyo Dome City Hall, the largest venue Tokyo Joshi Pro has ever appeared in.

The name of the tournament appears to be a clever play on Wrestle Kingdom, New Japan Pro’s biggest show of the year. Of course, NJPW’s annual event occurs in the heart of the city at the Tokyo Dome.

Wrestle Princess will go down at Tokyo Dome City Hall, which is an event hall not far from the world-famous arena. The venue seats 3,000 people but the seating chart will be amended to comply with social distancing.

DDT Pro Wrestling established TJP on June 4, 2012. The promotion rose to popularity four years later when it hosted its first show at Korakuen Hall.

Miyu Yamashita became the inaugural Princess of Princess Champion at the show, which has since become an annual event. Fans in the US are probably familiar with the current champion, Yuka Sakazaki, because of her appearances with AEW.

Some other notable names on the roster include Shoko Nakajima, who teamed with Bea Priestley at Fight for the Fallen 2019, and Maki Itoh, who stole the show at Pro Wrestling: EVE’s Wrestle Queendom 3.

Wrestle Princess will take place on Saturday, Nov. 7, 2020 at Tokyo Dome City Hall.
