During today’s episode of NXT UK, joshi legend Meiko Satomura made her official debut as a WWE roster member and coach.
Satomura made her NXT UK debut by appearing in a hype package for her upcoming in-ring debut.
Reports and hints surfaced earlier today regarding the possibility of Satomura’s debut. Yahoo! Japan reported that Satomura had officially signed with WWE on Jan. 28 as a coach and Superstar, the first contract of its kind for a Japanese wrestler.
In an interview with Bell To Belles, NXT UK Superstar Nina Samuels stated the women’s division would be seeing a big change, in a good way, when asked to comment on the rumors of a big upcoming NXT UK debut. Samuels couldn’t give any other details regarding the debut.
The interview and report from Yahoo! Japan coincided with a source who told Bell To Belles that Meiko was likely to debut during today’s episode of NXT UK.
Satomura first appeared for WWE during the 2018 Mae Young Classic Tournament, where she made it all the way to the semi-finals, defeating Killer Kelly, Mercedes Martinez, and Lacey Lane, before being eliminated by the eventual winner, Toni Storm.
The 25-year veteran is the co-founder of the all-female Japanese promotion, Sendai Girls’ Pro Wrestling. It was reported by Tokyo Sports late last year, that Satomura would continue working for the promotion, alongside her duties at NXT UK.
With 25 years of experience, Bell To Belles is excited to see what Meiko Satomura will bring to one of the best women’s division, in the world.
