Tonight, during AEW Revolution, Hikaru Shida retained the AEW Women’s World Championship against her opponent, Ryo Mizunami.

The match was the final stop for Mizunami, who defeated Maki Itoh, Aja Kong, and Nyla Rose in the AEW Women’s World Championship Eliminator Tournament, to get to the title match featured on the pay-per-view this evening.

After the match, the women who competed in the Buy-In match earlier in the night appeared to cause complete disorder in the ring.

Fans hope Mizunami will stay stateside as a new signee for AEW, instead of returning to Japan to continue her work as a freelance wrestler. Most notably, Mizunami has wrestled for Sendai Girls’ Pro Wrestling, Ice Ribbon, and Gatoh Move—a joshi promotion ran by legend and AEW regular Emi Sakura.

Hikaru Shida won the title at AEW Double or Nothing in May, last year, defeating Rose in a no DQ match. The third champ has held the title for 289+ days.
