To celebrate a historical year for women’s wrestling, in collaboration with Pro Wrestling Illustrated, Bell To Belles interviewed over 20 women who have ranked on this year’s PWI 500 ranking, creating the “Women of the 2021 PWI 500” Interview Series. To empower women in wrestling even more, some of the interviews were conducted by the talented women who make up wrestling media.
Kaia McKenna, who ranked #499 on the PWI 500, chats with guest interviewer Candace Cordelia of PWI on on her last year in wrestling, dream opponents, and her connection with professional wrestling.
When asked what element of wrestling Kaia first gravitated towards, she focused on the emotional aspects of wrestling:
“Honestly, for me, it’s the storytelling. I think I’ve touched on it before. I appreciate the respect, the athleticism of professional wrestling, but I really, really loved that you could just become so invested and so involved in these characters—cry with them, and cheer with them, and feel the emotions their feeling—and that people could become super invested in wrestling in that capacity.
The theater aspect of it is just absolutely fascinating to me.”
