Jade Cargill crowned inaugural AEW TBS Champion

Jade Cargill is the newest title holder in All Elite Wrestling.

During tonight’s episode of AEW Dynamite, the first after switching to TBS, Jade Cargill and Ruby Soho competed in the finals of the TBS Tournament; the winner becoming the inaugural TBS Champion.

Mercedes Martinez appeared part way through the match to interfere, but Thunder Rosa came to the rescue and removed Martinez from the arena. Cargill, stronger and larger, had the upper hand for most of the match with strength moves. Soho rallied for part of the bout, but Cargill was just too strong for the Runaway. Cargill won the match, resulting in her crowning as the newest AEW champion.

In March 2020, AEW developed the AEW TNT Championship for their men’s division, serving as secondary championship. After it was announced that AEW Dynamite would move from TNT to TBS, Tony Schiavone and referee Aubrey Edwards confirmed on the October 6 Dynamite that the AEW TBS Championship would be a secondary championship for the women’s division.

After announcing the single-elimination tournament, the bracket was revealed on the October 22 Rampage featuring a 12-woman field. The tournament began on the October 23 Dynamite, with four women getting a first round bye based on their AEW ranking.

Cargill had a first round bye, and defeated Red Velvet and Thunder Rosa to make it to the finals. Soho defeated Penelope Ford, Kris Statlander, and Nyla Rose to make it to the finals.

Watch AEW Dynamite every Wednesday night at 8:00pm EST on TBS, or your local channel equivalent.
