All Elite Wrestling just announced their first pay-per-view event for 2020. The company will return to Chicago, IL on Feb. 29, 2020 to host AEW Revolution.
Revolution will be the second major AEW event to take place in Chicago. However, it won’t be held at the Sears Centre Arena like All In or its follow-up, All Out. Even more, it won’t take place during Labor Day weekend like either of those events.
Instead, Revolution will be in the heart of downtown Chicago at the Wintrust Arena. It will coincide with the comic convention, C2E2, which also take place that weekend.
AEW was part of the festivities last year as it was featured on Being the Elite and Kenny Omega and The Young Bucks made appearances at the convention. Earlier this week, they announced that they will return to C2E2 next year.
This news is interesting because it implies that C2E2 could substitute for Starrcast, which is a mini-convention that happens on the same weekend as AEW events.
There hasn’t been an announcement yet, but it wouldn’t be a stretch to assume we could see more AEW stars at the convention next year. It’s a pretty smart business move for The Elite.
It’s unclear if AEW will return to Chicago for All Out 2. But Tony Kahn already confirmed Double or Nothing 2 will take place at the MGM Grand during Memorial Day weekend.
Tickets for Revolution go on sale next Friday, Dec. 20 at aewtix.com.
