Allysin Kay receives ROH ‘Ticket to Gold’
Twelve-year veteran Allysin Kay is headed to Ring of Honor’s Women’s Championship Tournament, this summer.
ROH Board of Directors member Maria Kanellis-Bennett presented Allysin Kay with the “ticket to gold” during a Zoom call, following last night’s episode of Women’s Division Wednesday. A “ticket to gold” admits a wrestler into the upcoming tournament, and is typically given to competitors who win a tryout match on their weekly women’s show.
Unlike other competitors, Kay wasn’t required to compete for her “ticket to gold”, which Kanellis-Bennett explained by stating Kay’s work “speaks for itself”.
Kay has held six different women’s titles during her tenure, holding both the SHINE Championship and Impact Knockouts Championship twice.
In her 12 years as a wrestler, Kay has competed all over the world in promotions like SHINE, SHIMMER, Lucha Libre AAA Worldwide, Sendai Girls’ Pro Wrestling, Tokyo Joshi Pro, and AEW, where she competed for the NWA World Women’s Title, held by Serena Deeb.
The Detroit native even appeared for ROH several times, including at The Crockett Cup 2019, where she won the vacant NWA World Women’s Title from Santana Garrett. Kay spoke on how it felt to be back for ROH.
“This tournament is a perfect fit for me,” shared Kay. “I never really got to sink my teeth into ROH. I’ve been there a couple times but it’s just been one-off appearances and I feel like we can really show that women can go, and I feel like ROH is a perfect platform for that, so I’m very excited for this tournament.”
Kay will join fellow “ticket to gold” holders Miranda Alize, Trish Adora, and Rock-C in the quest for the ROH Women’s World Championship in the tournament, this summer. Angelina Love will also be in the tournament, earning a first-round bye, after defeating Quinn McKay.
The tournament will crown a women’s champion for the first time since the title became deactivated in January 2020, when Kelly Klein departed from the company.
