After pulling double duty, Asuka defeated Sasha Banks to regain the WWE RAW Women’s Championship at SummerSlam.
At “The Biggest Party of the Summer,” Asuka challenged for both women’s titles. On Friday’s episode of SmackDown, Naomi upset Bayley in a Beat the Clock Challenge, forcing the WWE SmackDown Women’s Champion to defend her title first.
In the opening match, “The Role Model” put on a strong fight against “The Empress of Tomorrow.” Early on, Asuka brought the fight to her but Bayley fought her way back.
She managed to retain her title with a little help from “The Boss.” Afterward, the WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions beat down Asuka, softening her up for her second match against Banks.
In the second women’s title bout of the night, Banks and Asuka delivered a hard-hitting match. “The Boss” dominated for most of the match, taking advantage of her fresh legs.
Asuka eventually pulled off a comeback and attempted to force the champion to submit. This led to amazing sequence where the competitors traded submission holds.
Bayley inevitably got involved but she was reluctant to take the same hip attack on the apron that Banks took earlier for her. Afterward, “The Empress of Tomorrow” dispatched her with a spinning backfist. Then, she ended the match with the Asuka Lock to leave SummerSlam as the WWE RAW Women’s Champion.
